Books and Shoes - February 26-28, 2012

Amelia is very into shoes. She will zip across the room to get to them. She pretty much just flips them around for a bit, then chews on them. I let her play with them a little, but she doesn't get to do all the chewing she wants because it grosses me out. I've seriously considered getting her a brand new pair of cheap shoes that she can play with without consequence. But, I'm pretty sure she'll lose interest and get bored with it as soon as she knows it's something she can play with whenever. Part of me thinks she likes to get to the stuff she's not supposed to. At the very least, she likes new things that she's never played with or doesn't get to play with often. Like anything that isn't a toy. As soon as that shoe loses the novelty, she'll lose interest.
She's not above taking them right off of people's feet.
She is super into books right now as well. She can get them off that shelf and she loves to flip them over, turn the pages, look at the pictures, and chew on them. Whether she will sit still enough to listen is pretty hit and miss. Mostly miss. She'd rather grab it or smack it. But she never seems to get bored with them, which is great because we have a ton thanks to the new Goodwill that opened up nearby.

This shirt is from my friend Megan that I used to work with. It says, "Mine's a Pint! Drink milk responsibly!" and she actually brought it back from her trip to Ireland last year. We love it, and obviously Amelia does too.

Learning about dinosaurs. We got this book at a yard sale before she was born and it is one of her favorites. The cover used to crinkle, and then I put it through the dryer and it got less crinkly. Lesson learned.
